Designed for Long Term Performance in Florida
With over a century of proper field performance in other parts of the world, tiles provide the longest track record of performance in Tampa, compared to other roofing materials such as asphalt shingles. Modern Tile Roof engineering design provides a natural water shedding and ventilation feature allowing tiles to be the primary roof covering in warm climates.
The higher weight and strength allows tile to meet the anticipated loads of today’s design requirements for all of the Tampa Florida area..

Available in a Variety of Colors and Styles
Roof tiles come in many colors, shapes, and sizes. In fact, with modern innovations, Florida concrete and clay roof tile manufacturers can produce tiles to suit any architectural style, from authentic Spanish and Mediterranean to New England Colonial, historic, or contemporary. Roof tiles can be flat or round, simulate wood shakes, or seek to replicate centuries-old roofing materials. The possibilities are virtually limitless.

Maintain their Color In Tampa Florida Climate
Colors in tile come from natural sources such as the color and mixture of the clay used in clay tiles or from iron oxide pigments in concrete tiles, both of which are extremely durable. Tiles in Florida may experience varying degrees of color softening after extended exposure to the elements. However, this occurs to a lesser degree with roof tile in Tampa than with most other roofing materials. Some Florida clay roof tile manufacturers guarantee their tiles against fading for 50 years.

Long Lasting Protection
To maintain their long-lasting beauty, the weight of tile is important because it provides enduring protection without developing problems like other roofing materials. Most homes built today in Tampa, FL are strong enough to support the weight of a tile roof. There are also varieties of lightweight tile offered that are ideal for new and re-roofing projects. Tile is fast becoming the re-roofing product of choice in Tampa Florida due not only to its durability but also to its ease of maintenance. Single tiles are much easier to repair than other roofing materials.

Can Sustain High Tampa Florida Winds
Due to its resistance to severe Florida weather, concrete and clay tiles continue to be the preferred roofing material among homeowners in the Tampa, Florida area. With proper installation, tile roofing is one of a few select roofing systems that is proven to withstand sustained winds of 150 miles per hour found in Florida.

Economical
Clay and concrete tile roofs are one of the most cost-effective choices for Tampa Florida Homeowners Associations due to their long lifespan—50 to 100 years or more. Both concrete and clay tile outlast other roofing materials, with Florida Tile Roofing manufacturers offering warranties from 50 years to the life of the structure. In fact, in Asia and Europe, many structures with clay roof tiles have remained intact, functional and beautiful for centuries.

Require Limited Maintenance in Florida
All Tampa Florida roofing systems require some maintenance, and certain Homeowners have special issues to address regardless of the type of roofing system. Under normal Florida weather conditions, tile roofs require minimal maintenance. With tile, maintenance is restricted to gutters, protrusion flashings, and venting. With other Tampa Florida area roofing systems, maintenance may include coating, painting, cleaning, and/or sealing the majority of the roof surface.

    1. Thanks Chuck Bergman, it is nice to see a fellow tile roof cleaning professional like yourself warn of the dangers of Pressure Washing!
At this moment on 8-30-2013, the entire community of Grandhampton in New Tampa has been calling us, shopping around for tile roof cleaning.
Most of the homes in Grandhampton are 500,000.00 and up, in a good economy!
All of them have either flat, or barrel tile roofing.

LOL Chuck, these people act like they are shopping for a car, or an appliance.

As you know, Pressure Washing a Tile Roof in Tampa is always cheaper, because it only uses high pressure water.
The cleaning does not last near as long as what we do, and can break or crack tiles, cause leaks, as well as scatter the still living roof algae to other areas of the home.

It never ceases to amaze me that some tile roof cleaning customers who live in 1/2 Million dollar homes, will go with an inferior tile roof cleaning service, to save 50 to 100 bucks!

    1. Thank you Chuck Bergman! Today is Saturday, 12-21-2013, and we are out cleaning 2 tile roofs up in a local subdivision called Tampa Palms. One is a repeat customer who lives in The Reserve At Tampa Palms, and one is a new customer who was suggested by Florida Executive Realty, who she bought her home through.
One is a flat cement tile roof, and one is the ceramic barrel tiles that are terra cotta in color.
As a tile roof cleaner yourself Chuck, you know that because these tile roofs are different, they require different cleaning chemical formulations, to look their very best.
We are always very careful when cleaning glazed ceramic barrel tiles because as you know, the glaze can be stripped right off of them, if care is not taken in making up the tile roof cleaning solution.
The flat cement tile roof requires almost an excess of tri sodium phosphate added to the solution, to be sure the cement tiles really whiten up.

Like yourself Chuck, we are perfectionists, when it comes to cleaning these tile roofs, up here in the Tampa area.

    1. Thanks so much Dan, for the kind words! It means a lot coming from a roofing contractor here in Florida like yourself. Yes, Tile Roof Cleaning of large upper end homes is sort of our “niche”, over here in Tampa.
I hope 2014 is a great year for you too as well.

    2. Thanks Daniel! We have been cleaning both shingle and tile roofs here in the Tampa Florida area, over 20 years now. Because we have so many repeat customers, we are always busy. We have added another roof cleaning truck, so our customers will not have to wait as long for us to clean their roofs. Many of our tile roof cleaning customers live in affluent deed restricted communities. Because these affluent subdivisions are deed restricted, the homeowners associations of these Tampa area communities will send out those dreaded “get your roof cleaned or else” letters, if they see a tile roof that has been turned black by the algae, that flourishes in the semi tropical environment we all enjoy so much, here in Tampa. Some of our tile roof cleaning customers are given a deadline to have this problem taken care of. Sometimes, we have had to actually call these Homeowners Associations, to assure them that our customers have retained us to clean their tile roofs. With this additional fully trained and RCIA Certified Roof Cleaning Crew we recently added, the wait time for our services will now be much shorter, for our customers under a roof cleaning deadline from their Tampa Area Homeowner Associations.

  1. HI, in our Condo assoc. we have flat tile roofs. The Pres of the Assoc lived in our Section of the development, so every 2-3 yrs he would have someone pressure clean and apply a rubberized sealer on the Roofs. So tell me is this not the way to maintain the flat tile roofs?? And if not, how should they be cleaned and protected so our Roofs last?? Thanks! Sharon

    1. Sharon, Pressure Washing is a crude and invasive way to clean a tile roof. Remember, the black streaks seen on Tile Roofs here in Tampa are part of living organisms. It is not dirt we are dealing with. Pressure Cleaning simply scatters these still living organisms, vs killing them, as a properly done chemical cleaning will do.
The so called “rubberized sealer” application is a scam. Sealers are not effective is keeping a tile roof clean. Think about this for a moment ? Simply sealing the pores of a tile roof, IF this so called “rubberized coating” was really ever applied will do nothing. After all, Mildew will grow both on glass, and the aluminum beams of a screen room, and neither aluminum or glass have pores, right ?

The non pressure tile roof cleaning we do using chemicals will always last longer then pressure washing.

  2. Good thoughts From Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa!
Chris Tucker and myself, as well as the a few contractors who are willing to learn to clean roofs properly, use pumps that put out an average of 60 psi. An average pressure washing machine puts out 3500 psi. Why beat a roof to death, blasting the living algae all over everything surrounding your roof and blow it up under your tiles, when it’s totally unnecessary? Then there’s the amount of walking on needed. With a pressure washing job, the roof must be walked out completely, row after row. With out Non-Pressure Cleaning, we can stand in one spot and clean a 10′ X 15′ area at a time! For that matter, many can be done from a step ladder! If you are in the Tampa area, call Apple!
If you are in the Port Charlotte, Englewood, Rotonda West, Venice, North Port area, call me!

  3. Oh, and as to the “rubberized” sealer. It is quite likely that the “rubberized is actually elastomeric. Either way, it’s a form of paint and will accomplish nothing, with holding back algae growth!
The algae will actually begin growing behind the coating-it always does! Sounds like your former president was simply misinformed, or bought into an expensive sales pitch! You’d be surprised what people “think” they “know” when it comes to keeping their roof looking clean!
